Fix Breadcrumbs Error | Blogger | WordPress

Breadcrumbs.. it sounds like something eatable but in reality, it's an error of Google search console that bothers many bloggers. So if you are facing the same problem then your at the right place because today I will give you step by step tutorial to getting rid of this Error both for WordPress and Blogger. First, let's know

What are Breadcrumbs?

In simple language, we can that breadcrumbs are a trail of hierarchy pages which help the user to navigate through a website easily. It is located on top of a webpage.

How to fix Breadcrumbs error 

Open your Google search console. There click on Breadcrumbs.

Here you can see that its showing error on Either "name" or "item name" should be specified.

OR

It can show the error of Invalid URL in field ID

To resolve both the error follow these steps firstly for WordPress then for Blogger

How to fix Breadcrumbs Error in WordPress

1. Open your WordPress
2.  On the left side of WordPress dashboard find SEO and in SEO click on search appearances
3. In search, appearances click on Breadcrumbs.
4. In breadcrumbs, you will see there is an option to enable and disable the breadcrumbs.
5.  You can disable it from there.

 Open your WordPress dashboard

On the left side of the dashboard, you can see SEO. In SEO click on search appearances then click on Breadcrumbs. As shown in the below image

Disable the breadcrumbs form there.

There are Breadcrumbs in themes also so you have to change that setting also. This is how you can do that >>

First, open your WordPress dashboard and then on the left side find appearance. In appearance click on customize.  

 

In customize, you will see on the left side of screen Theme options. In Theme, options click on Breadcrumbs.

There is an option to enable or disable breadcrumbs. Disable the breadcrumbs and click on publish. 

Now your problem is solved but the last step is left which is done in Google search console which I will tell you at last of this article but first let me tell how to fix this problem in Blogger.

How to fix Breadcrumbs error in Blogger

1. Open your Google search console
2. On the left side find breadcrumbs and click on it.
3. Find the pages which have breadcrumbs error.
4. Now find that page in your Blogger.
5. Go in the labels section and check that the labels given by you do not have any space between them eg:- blogger templates.
6. Click on Publish.
7. Check the page URL in Google search console if it still shows any error.

Open your Google search console and click on Breadcrumbs

In breadcrumbs check the post which has the breadcrumbs error. Then open your blogger dashboard and find that post.

Click on that post and open it.

In labels, section put labels with no space between them as shown in the above photo.

E.g:- If you want to give a label like blogger templates so you have to write it as BloggerTemplates. 

Click on Publish.

On the last step left to be done in Google search console for both with WordPress or Blogger.

Now the post which was having the error, copy the URL on the post and then paste it in the URL inspection section on Google Search Console and press Enter.

After you press enter a window will open in front of you like in the below image.

It will show that your post has issues and there is an Invalid item.

Now click on Test Live URL.

It will show like in the image above.

After testing is done it will show that there are no issues in your post.

Likewise, you have to get you posts tested which have breadcrumbs error after you have followed all the steps for all the posts you have to follow the last step in Google Search Console.

Last step

Come back to Google Search Console dashboard and click on Breadcrumbs.

In breadcrumbs click on See Details.

A window will open like the image shown above.

You will see that some pages are pending

They will get passed after some time. If any page failed then Google Search Console will tell you what to do next to get it passed.

This is how you can get rid of Breadcrumbs error.
